Upload Inventory to FlexeraOne without using a Beacon

Hi,

just wanted to ask if someone ever tried to upload .ndi files directly to FlexeraOne without using a beacon?

So basically something like this:

FlexNet Agent generates inventory -> ndupload.exe uploads generated .ndi file to https://data.flexnetmanager.eu/ManagesoftRL

Has anyone experience with this?

Best regards,

Max

The agent will fail to upload directly to Flexera One. It has to go through the beacon as the beacon has the authentication settings needed for Flexera One to accept the file.

Thanks for your answer! Is there a way to re-use the auth-settings from the beacon within an agent?
Where are the the auth-settings stored? Is it the UUID of the beacon and the encrypted password?

Kind regards,

Max

Yes, the authentication settings are contained in the config for the beacon and then stored in the registry. While it is possible to configure the agent to use authentication, it is not possible to configure it to use the beacon authentication as you also have to decrypt the password.

Thanks for clarififying! 🙂

So can you confirm that the authentication from beacon to F1 is based on username(UUID of the beacon) & (encrypted) password?

Kind regards,

Max

Yes, that is how the beacon authenticates to Flexera One

Last question for the moment: the password is stored encrypted in the registry. Will it be decrypted on the beacon during the upload to F1 or does F1 the decryption?
