Best Practice Inquiry - Scanning UNIX Network Attached Storage Drives (NAS) - Part II

Hello,

We are trying to determine the best approach for invoking the Inventory Agent to enable Recurse only on local attached drives, NOT on a network drive.

However, scanning still needs to occur on the network drive since the directory specified contains the swid files that link to the commercial application used by the Inventory Device.

Would the registry key/values below accomplish this?

IncludeNetworkDrives=True
IncludeDirectory=/bin;/opt;/app;/appl;/usr;/admin;/appl/software/dev2*/iso-swid (network directory)

I think that it looks like the appropriate syntax and you may want to this KB article: Can wildcards be used in the IncludeDirectory option of the managed device Inventory Agent?

Thanks,

@JohnSorensenDK

I've added the wildcard paths in the "includedirectory" preference and they seem to work.

If using the "IncludeNetworkDrives=YES" preference, would this cause the Agent to scan the entire NAS volume group?

@ChrisG - Thoughts?

@davidle

It won't, please also refer to Why are network filesystems being excluded from inventory? for more details.

Thanks,
