Hi All, I have a server reporting SQL Server Database Engine Services, which is being treated as a commercial application. I have validated that it is actually the Express edition that is installed by executing the following query in SQL Management Studio SELECT @@VERSION I would like to be able to modify, within FlexeraONE UI, that this is SQL Express, so that it doesn't continue to skew the compliance position. Is this possible, and if so what is the process please? Thanks

Hi Chris, thanks and we looked at the history tab on the application record. Nothing to indicate anyone within out company has done anything. The Operator for all history relates to the Flexera service account and not an individual, so I'm completely baffled as to why.

Thank you for your feedback. This could be a useful option. What happens if a machine is removed via the obsolete inventory option after say 30 days but then subsequently comes back online? Would it re-appear in Flexera with a fresh inventory? Also what is the process for manually removing retired machines before waiting x amount of days for the obsolete inventory option to take place? For example if my server team advise they have retired a number of servers, and we wanted them gone out of Flexera immediately, does deleting the device from All Inventory remove every trace of it from Flexera? Is there a scenario when you wouldn't want to do this too? Thanks

Hi There, I am trying to ascertain how Flexera manages inventoried computers that no longer exist. As as example. we have a large number of VM Hosts in Flexera that have been disposed of a long time ago. Flexera obtained the initial inventory via a connection into vCenter. Our VM Hosts don't exist AD, and we don't have connections to any other sources. I have previously flagged the device status as ignored, however I can still see the VM Hosts in Flexera to this day. Is there a reason why they are retained and why they would not be purged from the system following a subsequent inventory scan, as in reality they would no longer be seen? Can anyone answer that for me please? If this is this something that has to be managed manually what other options are available other than using the ignored status? Can I flag a device as disposed etc, and if so where is this done in Flexera? Do I delete the device record from within All Inventory? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards

Thanks. I did see that thread, but it doesn't look like a proper resolution was obtained. If the issue has arose because of something to do with the ARL my preference is for Flexera to address this, as opposed to doing it myself. Hopefully someone in the Flexera Team can advise.

Hello all, I've just noticed today that we have a large amount of SQL Server 2016 and 2019 installs appear in Flexera. There is no edition identified, and both applications have the overlapping evidence flag. We are using the Flexera agent to gather inventory. Digging further, I selected one of the machines showing SQL Server 2016. Looking at the applications tab and filtering SQL, I see two entries as per the attached. One for SQL Server 2016 Enterprise, and one for SQL Server 2016. From a licensing perspective it's not a concern as this VM sits an SQL cluster licensed at the host level, but I'm intrigued to understand why it is reporting as it is. Any help would be super appreciated. I'm new to Flexera and still trying to get my head around it. Thanks

Thanks. It just skews the view for me. There is no option to filter the view to exclude the hosts etc that have previously been flagged as ignored. I use this view a lot as it helps give a really good overview including license keys used, capacity etc.

Thanks, but the issue I'm having is even though there are VM hosts flagged as ignored, they are still showing in the VMware Inventory workspace, and I don't want to see them. Can it not just be a representation of the live environment with ignored hosts excluded. I assume the only way to deal with this is to delete the hosts?

Hello, I'm new to using Flexera and this is my first post. Hoping someone could offer me some advice or support please. When I'm looking at our VMware inventory (Inventory / VMware Inventory) I am seeing VM hosts that no longer exist (confirmed disposed by our infra team). They are flagged as ignored in Flexera. Is there another step we need to take within Flexera to tidy this view up please? Thank you 🙂
