I followed the procedure at the link provided, and it did seem to improve things, but after importing more apps, Application Manager crashed again and again.

The OS is Windows 7 Enterprise x64, with a database running on a 2008R2 server, running SQL 2012. The import is being done from SCCM 2012, using the import wizard.
