Saas Manager ServiceNow two integration options question

Hello Saas Manager experts:

Currently there are two options in Saas Manager to integrate with ServiceNow (Basic via a user account  && OAuth2 with password grant type ). May I please confirm:

1. are those two methods in fact brining back the same amount of user/usage data , correct?  in other words you will only need to have one method for your SN integration instead of creating two application in FSM , otherwise they will be duplicate/identical ?

2. do you feel the Oauth2 is a redundant method compared with the basic as currently the integration still requires input an user account (username & password) with the same permission level  as the user account which is required via the Basic method ?  what's the benefit of using Oauth2 integration ?  (eg: control the app access time frame by access token lifespan which only exist in Oauth2?)

Thank you in advance to share your view.

Best Regards

Kev

  1. You're correct, you will only configure either of the two options and they will bring back the same information (provided that they have the same access rights in ServiceNow).
  2. The OAuth2 method is considered more secure and many customers prefer this compared exchange of credentials. To quote ServiceNow: "Transmitting refresh tokens is generally more secure than transmitting user credentials."

Thanks,
