another important point is, because the issue is having a new Azure serial number when we run some normal operations on azure Changing PPG, restoring snapshots, backups and all of that are regular operations that are not necessarily tied to the server build but support operations, my point is the serial number will eventually change and that's the problem im pretty sure that flexera has this problem in other customers how did they overcome that?

Hello I'm using the following command to resolve linux agent following commands on server /opt/managesoft/bin/mgsconfig -i /opt/managesoft/install/default.ini /opt/managesoft/bin/mgspolicy -t Machine -o DownloadRootURL=http://VMWWxxxxx.mars-ad.net/ManageSoftDL Getting below error, after executing the steps . [root@vmwlxxxx ~]# /opt/managesoft/bin/mgsconfig -i /opt/managesoft/install/default.ini sed: can't read /etc/managesoft.ini: No such file or directory ERROR: ManageSoft has not been configured. Please make sure you have a /etc/managesoft.ini file with the correct InstallDir set. Execution aborted. [root@vmwlxxxxx ~]# /opt/managesoft/bin/mgspolicy -t Machine -o DownloadRootURL=http://VMWWxxxxxx.mars-ad.net/ManageSoftDL sed: can't read /etc/managesoft.ini: No such file or directory ERROR: ManageSoft has not been configured. Hi, I'm getting increasingly frustrated with servers with the same name / IP address being imported but with different serial number. It does not matter whether it is Windows O/S or Linux, it just keeps happening! Is anyone else having this issue, seems to be around Azure VM's but its getting to the point I've got a support case with Microsoft to investigate the VM's, but maybe others have seen this Not only does it create unnecessary work to clean things up, but it impacts license counts etc. Need to get this fixed!!

Hi, So i tried this already, it did not resolve the server inventory or config.ini. What i really would like to know if why this file got corrupted and how to prevent this from re-occuring in future, i have a number of linux servers to heal and i am losing the inventory for over 100+ servers which for no reason got corrupt

Hello, So the corruption is see on the file /var/opt/managesoft/etc/config.ini Is there a way to reset this file so that the device will inventory?

Hi, so i have done a little bit more digging I have got two config.ini from linux server and here is the screen shot of them together, side by side the left side is from a good inventory server, the right side ini file from a server which has not inventoried since it was patched The config.ini from the server which is working has far more sections which are complete the config.ini file on the server which does not inventory, have missing sections, yet it did work! My team are still looking at what patches applied to the server, but i wonder why would this file lose settings??

not just limited to Windows, i have an example for Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 7.9 device which was a computer, changed after flexera agent implemented to VM Host Note, we are checking the windows device now if set as Hyper-V enabled

Hi Chris, Looking at the logs, the Installation log we see on the 15 Sept, all looks great 15th Sept before patching occurred then on the 16th following patching, the log file has this error and it repeats until todays date log errors from the 16th Sept after patching

Hi One of my techs asked me about some servers in flexera one which are shown as VM Host, but are not. I said i would take a look, the server was first imported from Altiris, then later we installed the Flexera agent, which aligns with this message in the Inventory history for the device So my question is, what in the flexera agent inventory would change a device from computer to VM Host? us\svc-flexera Inventory device type was changed from Computer to VM Host

Hi Adrian, Service is running, but i think the NDTASK does not run the policy refresh perhaps ndtask — The agent's task launcher. This runs ndschedag which executes further command lines (for example, for ndtrack, ndupload, ndlaunch) to perform the required actions. it is this that seems to not be run after the reboot imho. as when i call the command after the reboot/patching has completed /opt/managesoft/bin/mgspolicy -t machine everything goes back to normal, daily inventory commences

Hello, We run a patch cycle every month, i have noticed that some but not all of the linux servers do not inventory successfully after patch/reboot, and the only way to get them to inventory again seems to be manually log on to server and run then command below, surely this should not be necessary?? has anyone else had this issue?? /opt/managesoft/bin/mgspolicy -t machine /opt/managesoft/bin/ndtrack -t machine

Hi, I am looking to implement API Flexera One for my Vmware device data, in Flexera One there is a perfect report for Vmware which shows the data in a structure as shown in diagram attached Also shown in this report on our cloud system https://app.flexera.com/orgs/xxxxx/slo/Suite/Clusters/List The current API does not have vmware structure information i believe to help here, for the type eg 'Host' 'VM' 'Pool' Therefore does anyone know if this is something which can be done with the API or i need to request the API be updated to include additional VMware info, as need to get relationship, Flexera API does not provide it, can we request any other way to get this relationship?
