App Portal Embedding in ServiceNow host frame

Jump to solution
Hi,

We're trying to get AppPortal to cooperate with Service Now (Istanbul) as a Self Service Application which is viewed from a frame. We can get this to work with a new window, however whenever we try to add the following URL:
https:///esd/DefaultForUIEmbedding.aspx to the Self-Service menu under ServiceNow we get a message stating that the content can't be viewed in a frame.

I've tried adding appropriate X-FRAME headers to IIS without any luck.Has anyone been able to get this to work?

Thanks

Try it without the .aspx file... for example http://url/esd. More details on iFrame can be found here: https://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_iframe.asp

Here are the steps necessary to enable App Broker with ServiceNow - https://helpnet.flexerasoftware.com/appportal2019r1/default.htm#helplibrary/ABSNRoot.htm

Please note that the steps vary slightly depending on the version because Flexera eliminated the requirement for ServiceNow Orchestration as a result of ServiceNow changing Orchestration's financial model.  The latest version uses native ServiceNow Workflow capability instead.

I've been successful at hosting App Portal in a frame within ServiceNow, but I generally don't find it to be a great user experience (i.e. App Portal "chrome" within ServiceNow "chrome", lots of scrollbars, etc.).  Most of the customers I've worked with end up just putting a link to launch App Portal in a separate window.  If you're looking to keep the user experience within ServiceNow, have you looked at the possibility of migrating to App Broker instead of App Portal?

Most customers with ServiceNow leverage App Broker for a single user experience.
