When you enable the Synchronize enterprise groups in user and device properties setting (located in System Settings > Inventory tab), changes made to the enterprise group allocations for a user are automatically made to any devices assigned to that user.
Once the setting is enabled, if you change an existing user's enterprise group data (such as their location, corporate unit, or cost center), the same changes will be applied to the user's associated device. For example: Changing a user's location changes the user's device location.
This setting works in one direction only. Changing the device's enterprise group data will not affect the user's enterprise group data. For example: Changing a device's location will not affect the user's device location.
IMPORTANT: A user must be linked to a device before you change an assigned user's enterprise group information. This setting uses the change in a user's enterprise group information as a trigger. No changes will occur if no devices are linked to the user.
To use this feature
Enable the feature by going to System Settings > Inventory tab and select the box next to Synchronize enterprise groups in user and device properties.
After the user and device are linked, changes will be applied to the linked device's enterprise group information.
TIP: You can create a business adapter to update the enterprise group information for devices if a large number of users and devices are involved.

Thank you for submitting a case for this issue, ttaccini. Engineering found three more license types should be on that list and asked the team to update the document.
The (updated) list of license types where exemptions by device role are not supported is:
• Microsoft User CAL and Microsoft Device CAL for which the Consume entitlements based on property (in the Use rights & rules tab) is set to Access • Enterprise • Evaluation • SAP Named User • SAP Packages • Site • IBM Floating User • IBM RVU • IBM Concurrent User

Linking an inventory to a recommended asset is a complex process that FlexNet Manager Suite performs. When you select the Accept Link button located on the inventory pages, it links the asset from the Recommended asset link column to the ComplianceComputer record.
Multiple processes accessing the ComplianceComputer record at once can cause an error to occur. For example, if you run the Compliance Import at the same time you’ve selected Accept Link for multiple assets, an error is possible.
The below error appears if FlexNet Manager Suite stops responding in this situation.
Those with the on-premises version will see this error in the Web UI log:
An unexpected error occurred (#Error ID#)" exn="System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Transaction (Process ID 443) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.
To avoid potential errors when using the Accept link button
Select fewer inventories when using the Accept Link button. Selecting multiple assets to link at once may cause an error to occur.
Avoid using Accept Link near reconciliations or scheduled Active Directory imports.
