For phase 1 we are only looking for ticket generation; further down the road we would like to configure the deeper integration, with ServiceNow acting as the front end and App Broker performing the back end actions. Thank you for the clarification, I will forward to our ServiceNow implementation team and hope they will enable the SOAP

We are implementing ServiceNow and have been provided a URL for the ServiceNow REST apis. However, within the ITSM integration in App Broker it appears to only be able to configure a WSDL URL. Would we need to request the URL for a SOAP based webservice from the ServiceNow group to implement this integration? When entering the URL for the REST api it throws an error.

We have a couple vendors whose license model is a user license tied to an individual, and for which we are not able to reassign that license. For example if we assign 20 licenses to users, then 10 users leave the company and 5 new users join, we have to purchase 5 additional licenses, as those 10 are unable to be re-used. Our ideal solution is to either switch vendors or get the vendor to change license models, but if we're unable to do that, we're unsure of the best way to handle this in FNMS. Our thought it to create a Named User license and manually allocate/unallocated the users, but we're not sure how to reduce the entitlement when a user is unallocated.

What you are describing would be a common scenario for Oracle Processor in an ESX environment, because Oracle requires all hosts in an ESX cluster to be licensed. For example, you have a cluster1 with two hosts, and HostA has a single guest with a product licensed under oracle processor. In the license consumption tab, it will list HostA and HostB as Installed No, but then have consumption, and GuestA would have Installed Yes, but no consumption because the consumption is calculated at the host level. Cluster1 Cores Installed Consumed HostA 16 No 16 GuestA 4 Yes 0 HostB 16 No 16 So it may depend on a few factors, such as license type, it is physical vs virtual environment, etc.

Hello, We see the same thing in SCCM, usually as a result of a shell swap where a desktop support person will change the drive into a new machine to correct a hardware issue. Because the MAC address, serial number, etc. is new, SCCM creates a new device/ResourceID. We've also seen it if the SCCM client is reinstalled, and the SMSCFG.INI file is deleted as part of the reinstall. In SCCM the original machine will eventually be obsoleted and removed via the maintenance tasks, but not before the device is imported into FNMS. I am not aware of an automated way to remove these duplicates from FNMS, to my knowledge it would be a manual process. It would be helpful if there was a script/upload/business adapter to delete a list of computers.

We have a daily export of asset status from our asset tool to a staging database, and then have a scheduled task running the business adapter tool to import the asset status from the staging database into the FNMS database. When an asset is marked as disposed in our asset tool, within a day or two the asset status is automatically updated in FNMS and inventory set to ignored. There is some knowledge required to configure the business adapter studio, our was setup by Flexera services during our implementation. Post-setup the biggest challenges we face are data accuracy issues, ie the serial number is missing/incorrect/duplicated in our asset tracking tool, but when the data is correct it works pretty well.

I realize this is an old question, but something we just discovered. The O365 adapter appears to modify the entitlements directly, not via the purchases. So active reservations show up as entitled licenses, I am not sure about future reservations because we do not create those. It would be nice if reservation entitlements which will require future true-up payments could be distinguished from entitlements for which we have already paid, it would make it easier to forecast our next true-up payment.

Can you confirm the subnet of the vCenter is assigned to a beacon? In Discovery and Inventory =>Network=>Unassigned Subnets Make sure the subnet the vCenter is on is not listed. If it is, you should be able to select it and assign it to a beacon.

Thanks for the information, I have passed that on to our project team. One follow-up question, I believe it would be beneficial for some of our team to attend some sort of workshop/conference, would anyone have any recommendations on one which might have appropriate sessions for those looking to develop/build out their processes? Much appreciated.

Hello, In general management of our server and client environments are completely segregated. We have separate provisioning processes, separate SCCM environments, separate procurement teams, etc. On the client side we started using FNMS to manage our client licenses about 2 years ago, and the server team is looking to begin managing licenses, as for the most part that task has been neglected in the server environment. We are trying to get some input as to how others have these duties organized, and have the following questions: Is there one centralized/dedicated team or is it the responsibility of individual app support groups to manage licenses for their applications? Does a single team manage both client and server licenses? If there is a central dedicated team, how many resources are required to handle that task? (I realize this is dependent upon the size of the environment/number of applications. For reference we have around 60,000 clients and 8000 servers) If you have any other feedback not covered in the questions above, it would be appreciated. Thanks!
