Normalization of Device Assets

The team is importing device assets from sources such as SAP. The import process will create a device if not existing already or update relevant fields.

How does every one approach models and manufactures when importing device assets? Is there any built in functionality to set a normalized name for hardware?

@rwiltshire  - FlexNet Manager has no capabilities around normalizing the Manufacture and Model Number attributes.

You would need to perform you own normalization of the data before importing into FlexNet Manager.

... and just to add to Kirk's response that you may want to look into Flexera's IT Visibility / Data Platform solutions that can normalize the devices according to the Technopedia hardware models... (and potentially enrich with EoS/EoL info and other attributes...)

I'll chat with our sales guy.

Its a shame that some basic normalization is not part of the product.  The cost of data platform is huge on top of flexera.  I was hoping for basics in the tool then leverage Data platform for real enrichment of ESOL, power, other metrics.
