Release ID of a software product

How does BDNA assign the Release ID value for a software product? Will the Release ID ever change for a specific software product version?

Hi @brbrunetti ,

Every time an "attribute" is created, be that manufacturer, product, version, release, edition etc, Technopedia creates a unique ID on an incremental format. So for any new releases captured in Technopedia they will be assigned a unique Release ID.

The only scenario where a specific product release would be changed is if the release was to be deleted, for example, if we added it to Technopedia and subsequently identified that it was not yet in GA (General availability). This scenario would remove the Release ID from Technopedia and if it was to be re-added again in the future a new Release ID would be assigned.

A unique release ID will never be reassigned to a different product version.  If the information in the release is inaccurate or needs to be changed, it will be deleted a new unique release ID will be created (If required).
