Normalization for service now

I wanted to ask regarding the normalization process, what fields does it actually update on the computer table? on the "cmdb_ci_computer" does the normalization actually updates the 33 fields??? or does it just insert the normalized values in new columns on the table?

It updates the Normalized_xxx fields and keeps the original value. It also setups different default views that show the new normalized columns/fields (since those are obviously better), but the old ones should still be there.
