Installing AdminStudio on .NET Server 2003

I get an error message about not being able to install MDAC 2.6 on my .NET Server 2003 computer when installing AdminStudio 3.5. I have tried to pre-install MDAC 2.6 manually, which succeeds, but the AdminStudio install still insists on installing it again. Do you have a work around for this?

You could install it on any other machine and then try to take the MSI apart with Developer.
I'm sure you have machines that don't run beta software 😉

I also have the same problem. Installed Windows 2003 Server and now trying to install adminstudio 3.5. Same error.

I know that InstallShield would rather that we upgraded to V5 but having spent a lot of money buying 3.5 and l would like to get my moneys worth out of it.

Any ideas?

I followed the suggestion in this thread to use AdminStudio to edit it's own MSI package and remove the references to the MDAC component. I was then able to complete the install since the installer had no reason to check the MDAC version.
