Differences between InstallShield and Repackager?

Sorry guys a bit of a noob question.

I have just bought AdminStudio and want to convert legacy Win 2K apps to Xp. I assumed it would one program that does this, but AdminStudio is a lot more complex than I thought! So to create an MSI I use Repackager and to create a setup.exe I use Installshield?? Is that sort of right?

Hi Zed,

Not exactly. Basically, Repackager is used for converting any sort of non-Windows Installer package into an *.msi package (technically, this can be wrapped inside of a setup.exe, and use an *.msi on the backend).

Editor is for editing existing projects, including an *.ism file created by Repackager, or for creating new projects from scratch. This is basically what we sell standalone as InstallShield Professional.

Hope this clears things up a bit,

Cary
