Summary

This article answers a question if it is possible to keep inventory records that were removed from SCCM.

Synopsis

FlexNet Manager Suite (FNMS) removes inventory records when corresponding assets are removed from SCCM. Some customers may want to keep the inventory records after they are removed from SCCM.

Discussion

FNMS synchronizes data with SCCM, so it is not possible.

I mean if SCCM removes  removes inventory records, will the linked Assets be also removed?

@Woo_Lam - no, there is no built-in behavior that would result in asset records being deleted automatically.

We have changed the SCCM (SMS) Inventory Reader in the past to achieve exactly that. "Computer.xml" contains a step "GetDeletedComputerList" which can be modified to not delete SCCM inventory.

Please keep in mind that this might increase your license consumption and database size/import duration.
