Hi,
We receive a certain report from our security that because FNMS scans all drive including removable media device, that it notify defender for malicious app or file. Is there anyway we can stop FNMS from scanning removable devices?
Also, can FNMS detect the amount or frequency of usage of a particular application? Like how many times an application was opened for let say a month or so by the user?
Thanks

Hi,
Scan restriction: Did you enable file evidence scanning? You can exclude folders or partitions from file evidence scanning.
Usage: At least you can enable usage metering for getting information about when an application was used by whom and how often. For that you´ll need to enable usage metering in your FNMS via Discovery & Inventory rules or in your FNMS Agent config. (GatheringFlexNetInventory.pdf)

Without serious customization, the Flexera Agent will NOT scan any removable media devices. The default setting is that the Agent will not even scan any network drives.
You can use command line options like IncludeNetworkDrives and ExcludeFileSystemType for customizing the scanning options. This will not have any impact on removable media drives, like a USB portable disk or USB stick conntected to the computer.
The Flexera AGent can optionally be configured for collecting usage data. This is documented in the 'Gathering Inventory Data' document. The best documentation I'm aware of is a KB article written by @ChrisG though.
