FortiClient 6.0.9

Hi All,

We are currently on FortiClient 6.0.9, although we have older versions installed that need updating. Ex. 6.0.2, 6.0.5, and 6.0.8. FNMS is only showing FortiClient 6. There is nothing under Unrecognized > Installer but is found under File Evidence with 6.0.5 version only. Recognition Library should be identifying the latest version. Please advise.

Thank you,

Hi,

Normalization is part of the software recognition process in FNMS. So only showing "Forticlient 6" seems perfectly normal to me.

The question is if all evidences are recocnized and linked to that application. Could you please check the "Unrecognized Evidence" view for unassigned "Forticlient" evidences?

Best regards,

Markward

@jjhidalgo  - If you go into the Details of the "FortiClient 6.0" application and go to the Evidence tab, you can see that the Recognition Library is looking for Installer Evidence where the name is "FortiClient" and the version starts with "6.0".

Are you sure that there is no Unrecognized Evidence?

Another way to check is to go into an Inventory Device where you know this application is installed and go to the Evidence tab (to see the raw software inventory) and search there to see what actual evidence is being created for the application that needs to be added to the Recognition Rule.

Thank you again for your response,

We were able to locate the current version under the Evidence tab of a device. Although, we need to report out all different versions currently installed in our environment for upgrades. With that said, there are some devices that can't be upgraded due to some other application comparability. So we can't upgrade across the board. We need to separate that out. We also need to update the license type for FortiClient. Flexera has identified it as Freeware and this is a license product. Please advise on next steps.

Thank you,
@jjhidalgo

You can submit a Support Case in regards to FortiClient 6.  Indicate that this is a commercial product (not freeware) and that you have unrecognized evidence (attach to the ticket).

In regards to the other part of your question, the Software Normalization in FlexNet Manager is focused on license management, so it is likely that all of the subsequent patches would be normalized to the same software title of FortiClient 6, or at a maximum of the major subversion (6.0, 6.1, 6.2, etc.)

Hi,

Regarding your internal version management, you can always try to report on the raw evidence data and identify all minor versions.

A custom SQL based report could do this. And I believe there was an enhancement to report evidences from the reporting area, but I cannot find it right now.

Best regards,

Markward
