FNMS Security - Malware

Good morning

I have a client asking a question on FNMS around Malware.

Does FNMS have any mechanism to identify threats to beacons? Can it detect if a malware is trying to access the beacon software?

regards

Manish

Hi Manish,

Can you specify the threats or attack vectors? "Malware" is a bit vague and the beacon as a solution is more than a few executables. Each part of the architecture may have different risks to prepare against. Some examples:

  • The platform/OS (Windows Server) > patch you systems
  • The webserver (IIS) > harden your webserver
  • File system > use a security solution you trust
  • Communication > use SSL where you can
  • and in general > do backups

One thing, customers have been asking, but the Agent-Beacon communication does not support right now: Authentication.

Best regards,

Markward

The beacon software itself does not have built-in anti-malware/anti-virus functionality. I would suggest relying on commercial anti-malware/anti-virus software to provide this capability.
