Computer Discovery without ActiveX

With ActiveX dieing on the vine (no support in modern browsers, including MS Edge), what is Flexera's recommended discovery setup without ActiveX?

Great question. There are several options to choose from. The "right one" is going to be very dependant on the environment. You can set the primary and fallback method to one of the following

  • Active Directory - Uses "Managed By" property

  • Reverse DNS - Reverse DNS lookup of IP

  • SCCM - SCCM record

Most customers that do not use ActiveX choose either:

  • Primary: Reverse DNS; Fallback: SCCM

  • Primary: SCCM; Fallback: Reverse DNS

SCCM is a great choice if most users have a single device. If a user has more than one device he or she will be prompted when connecting to App Portal to choose whcih device the user is shopping for.
When was the SCCM Client option added? We are running 10.0.4.0, and I do not see that option.
SCCM Client has been an option for awhile now; version 10.x should be okay.

My options are:
ActiveX
Active Directory
Reverse DNS
Imported User-Computer Relationship

I upgraded my test portal to 10.0.7.0 and that did not change, so I guess this is an App Portal 2016 feature?
Imported User-Computer Relationship would be the comparable choice.
If I remove the ActiveX from the discovery list, will the site stop prompting for the ActiveX to be installed in IE11? If not, how do we do that?
We are running 10.0.4.0, and I do not see that option.
