Repackager - "An unknown error occurred" immediately after applying merge modules

I am getting the error "An unknown error occurred" immediately after applying merge modules during a repackage operation. The next line is "Conversion completed with 48 warning(s)." The finished ISM does not have any files or registry settings even though the snapshot did catch all of the changes made. The multi-step snapshot method was used. (The same results happened on 2 different PCs at 2 different locations. I am checking into this for one of my team members.)

How do / where do I start to troubleshoot why this is happening?

I have Admin Studio 6 sp1 on a Windows XP sp2 PC.
islc.exe is run from a shared location on a server.
islc.exe version = 6.10.0.8 ; modified date = January 20, 2005, 5:24:00 PM

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the underlining problem, but I do know how to get around that error.


open your options.ini

MergeModules=No

this way your merge modules aren't take with the building of an .ism

you have to add these later
