Help getting acrobat reader 6 to work with writer 5.05

I have a package for acrobat reader 6.01 which works perfectly on a clean machine. Unfortunately my client needs it to work on a machine with a pre-existing version of Acrobat writer (Full) version 5.05.
When I push the package to this machine everything installs correctly except for two items. The shortcut isn't placed down and the filetype associations remain pointing to version 5.05.
If I open a pdf with version 6.01, then it opens fine.
The event log states that everything was loaded successfully.
If I manually change the filetypes and add the shortcut, everything is perfect.

Any ideas on what I can do????

Did you use the MSI?
