Sorry if this question has been asked but,

We have a mix of Windows 2000 and Windows XP. During the packaging process should I use a system with no updates or Service Packs or should I patch the system completely before repackaging and app. Also should I package for each type of O.S.

I use VMware Workstation and it works great. Just not sure what the "base" should consist of

Thank you for your help

Ideally you should repackage on as clean as possible machine (OS + Service Pack to you're current level + VMware helpers).

You will need to run OSSnapshot on a few of you're desktop PCs for use in ConflictSolver to make sure you can check for conflicts between desktop apps/OSs

If you have the resources/time avalible, i'd recommend building a few VMWare images with you're different desktop configurations (OS/Software packages) for testing the MSI on before hitting the clients too.

I would recommend eaither the training course or the training manuals for "Introduction to Application repackaging using Admin Studio" to really get you on the right tracks!

Thank you for the reply. This may sound dumb but,

Should I also install all the update files as well as the Service Packs.
