Bug in AdminStudio after 3.01 Patch -> DO NOT USE THE PATCH

Testenvironment:

- Clean disc
- Single Processor
- 256 MB

- Windows 2000 SP2 Slipstream installation
- SP2 reinstallation
- MDAC 2.7
- MS XML Parser 3.0 SP2

- AdminStudio 3.0 Retail CD

- AdminStudio 3.01 Update

First Issues: ( deeper investigation have to follow )

1.)
See post “Adminstudio 3.01 update Bug“ regarding issues of the patch itself.

2.)
Author is unable to import Repackager projects (.inc ) after patch applied.
But the idev.exe file is never being modified by the patch.

Until a response from InstallShield Corp. I recommend NOT to use the 3.01 Patch.

Did you download the patch prior to March 28?

no as I posted i applied the patch on 4. Apr.

I tryed the:

Workaround
Manually register isrepackager.dll using regsvr32.exe. To do so, launch the Windows Start Menu, click Run, enter the command

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\InstallShield\AdminStudio\3.0\Author\System\ISRepackager.dll".
Note: You may need to adjust the path of ISRepackager.dll in the command line provided to reflect your machine configuration and/or installation location of AdminStudio.

This resolved the issue.

To notice: silent modifying patches is not a good practise !

P.S.

I downloaded the patch again at 18.04.02 23:28 CET
There is NO difference. The Patch on the Download Site
is not updateted !!!

You should thing about a content management system or patching yours 🙂
