Flexera is updating the Application Recognition Library (ARL) and Symantec Product Use Rights Library (PURL) to separate Symantec and Veritas applications and license templates, aligning with Symantec’s spin-off of Veritas. What this means to you: This coverage is already included with your subscription or support. The Symantec PURL updates are included with your subscription or support for FlexNet Manager for Datacenters or FlexNet Manager for Symantec. Veritas applications in your environment will now correctly show Veritas as the publisher, rather than Symantec. Where appropriate, legacy Symantec license templates are also now available for creation of Veritas licenses. Existing licenses and processed purchases should not be affected by this change. Hi @JensWalton , I was able to make a report that shows what I think you want: * Contracts * Licenses * Purchases * Contracts The way FNMS does the join, the first "Contracts" will be all contracts, but the second one will be an inner join with its predecessor item, Purchases. While it's not possible to further filter this report in the FNMS UI to the exception items where the license contract doesn't match the purchase contract, the report has the data you need and could be further refined in Excel or, if you are on prem, via a SQL report.

In general - if the deployed software is somehow distinct, yes; if the only difference is in a license or registry key, no, not without additional configuration to capture that detail.

Hi @kathy_allen , There is no requirement that an inventory device be linked to an asset in order to count for licensing. Linking to a retired or disposed asset will cause the device to be ignored and therefore to not count; however, an active device not linked to any asset definitely WILL count for licensing. I can't explain why these would be showing in Unlicensed Installations related to User or Device based licenses that are not scoped. I wonder if allocation would override the behavior? (It shouldn't be necessary, I agree.)

Hi @ImIronMan , What are you using as an inventory source? Using FlexNet Inventory for this may yield better results - would be worth testing. The message in the application suggests there is a known limitation with many inventory sources in terms of gathering the required information. That said, I don't know if FlexNet Inventory is the solution and would welcome others who have worked with Toad for Oracle recognition.

While I heartily agree with @ChrisG about vendor relationship management in general, Oracle (and a couple other vendors) maintains a consistent posture of.... not hostility, quite, but it's not friendliness. 🙂 I cannot in good conscience as an Oracle licensing specialist of many years recommend that you reach out to Oracle LMS without educating yourself as much as possible prior to that interaction. No matter the relationship status, Oracle LMS runs with a degree of independence from other teams including sales that they may very well see it as an invitation to audit.

Hi @JensWalton , I don't think this is quite true - you can relate the distinct purchases to distinct contracts, without limiting the license itself to a single contract. You can also link a license to multiple contracts. Using the relationship contract -> purchase -> license, I think you can maintain the cost optimization visibility while at the same time allowing FNMS to take advantage of all your entitlements. Hi @EHacking , I know what you mean about the dangers of letting any publisher know you have licensing questions! 🙂 I'd suggest our Oracle training material in the Learning Center - it's part of our Advanced Publisher curriculum.
