Hi all,
we are observing a crash with a licensed tool with 11.19.2 libs on windows.
The tool is supplied with an uncounted unlocked license key. The tool successfully starts and passes the checkout. But after almost 2 minutes it suddenly exits. In contrast, when starting with a server license, this crash won't happen!
When inspecting the stacktrace, the crash happens near a call to / usage of h7323O__UPBRNud, which is a symbol we found in lmgr_trl.lib.
After some experiments we discovered a workaround:
When having deactivated a device called " Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) #2", the crash won't happen again.
I hope, the flexlm developers can reproduce and fix this problem.

Hi all, in the roadmap update from 01/2022 https://learning.revenera.com/whats-new-in-flexnet-publisher/1112358 the release for the Windows-on-Arm-SDK was announced for q4 2022. Is this plan still valid?

Hi mrathinam thanks for the answer, but I don't understand in how tagging an elastic ip will help me (the software vendor) in order to check, whether the customer has sent me a valid elastic-ip host id.

Hi, currently I'm trying some workflows with amazon aws / ec2 cloud.
I have a simple ec2 instance that provides a public ip. But this is *not* an elastic ip, that will be the same when shutting down and starting a new ec2 instance.
I managed to run FNP LicensingService on that instance. Then I tried to retrieve a specific elastic ip host id:
% lmutil lmhostid -ptype AMZN -eip
lmutil - Copyright (c) 1989-2022 Flexera. All Rights Reserved.
The FlexNet host ID of this machine is "AMZN_EIP=1.234.56.78"
(I changed the ip in the example above.) But, it printed the current public ip, which is not the desired behaviour for me.
My question: Oftentimes the customers have a hard time to understand all these aws configuration options and they might not really understand the difference between a temporary public ip and an elastic ip. Is there some technical support to detect, whether the instance *really* has an elastic ip?

Our standard procedure for delivering license keys to customers is, to first ask the customer for the standard host id, generated by lmhostid, which is the ETHER host id.
What do you recommend to detect, whether a customer does not use a supported virtual environment? If I understand correctly, theoretically *any* MAC id may be generated in a virtual environment, so if I have only the host id, I can't distinguish this from a physical machine. Am I right?

Thanks jyadav for your answer! I understand, what are the supported environments.
There are some other questions, but I will open separate posts for that, mainly to reliably detect, whether a customer does *not* use a supported environment.

Hi, in "FlexNet Publisher 2022 R1 (11.19.0) Programming Reference for License File–Based Licensing", chapter 22 "Virtualization", there is stated:
""" Virtualization features enable you to restrict licensing to virtual environments or to physical machines. (Virtualization-based restrictions are ignored on unsupported virtual environments.) """
What are unsupported virtual environments?
It's also noted somewhere, that supported "guest" operating systems are linux and windows - do you mean that by "supported virtual environment"?
Or, do you rather mean: one of amazon cloud, google cloud or microsoft? Are there more?
The basic question is: how can I (as a vendor) reliably know, which physical or virtual environment the customer uses?
If I understand right, there are some "trustworthy" cloud providers like amazon, and with a special hostid for an amazon cloud guest, I am as secure as if being on a physical machine. But theoretically, with a virtual machine, you may manipulate the MAC id in any way, and I can't decide only by the MAC id from the customer, whether it is a physical or a virtual machine, correct?
What do you recommend, what should I ask the customer to send me, so that I can decide, whether he uses a physical system, a "good" cloud environment or a "bad" environment?
Best regards, Frank

Dear Abhay, I have no vendor daemon log so far, as I didn't import any key up to this point. The error message already comes on the first login, after/together with the mandatory changing of the password. The lmadmin.log ist empty in both logs directories. Again there is only 1 entry in "Apps & Features". Today, I tried two different ways to start the installer. First time, I started the installer just by double-click. Then I was asked for an admin account. For both installations. The second time, after having uninstalled everything, I did a right-click on the installer and chose "Start as administrator". But always the same results. What I did not try so far, is to login to windows with an administrator account. Don't know, if this would make a difference.

Hi all, as a software vendor I would tend to recommend my customers to install a separate instance of lmadmin per vendor - although lmadmin supports multiple vendors in one lmadmin server. Separate installations would minimize inter-dependencies. I tried to install lmadmin64-11.16.3.0 twice on windows 10. It looked quite promising, the installer gave me the option to install into different directories, use different ports, and I could even give the lmadmin service different names. Both installations started the web server (on different ports), but the second installation reported this error message: "Encountered problem saving license server configuration" And, when checking the windows settings "Apps & Features" I saw only one entry for FlexNet Publisher. So my question: should it be possible to have multiple lmadmin installations? Best regards, Frank
