jop, I scan for .net 4.5 and don't get that error. It installs 4.5 on my target computer with no problem. I won't install SQL Server Express but that is a different issue. I tried InstallShield Professional demo and I did get a similar error. I never got an answer so I uninstalled InstallShield and started looking around for install solutions that actually work.

Why do you include the SQL redistributable???? When I include it and require SQL Server it DOES NOT ATTEMPT to install SQL server like it does with other redistributables. It simply aborts the installation. If it doesn't work, why include it in the list of redistributables?

Can you upgrade target IIS? Can you install the IIS Web Deployment Tool? Can you install the IIS Management Tools? I believe I need those three apps installed before I can deploy a service to IIS.

It hardly matters as once you download them and include them in your project, InstallShield doesn't install them onto your target computer. I got that error message for a while and then it mysteriously went away and my downloads were suddenly present.

I selected SQL Server and .net 4.5 in the Redistributable window and neither program will install along with my application. Without SQL & .net my application won't work. How can I install these two apps?

Thanks. How is that supposed to make InstallShield work? I am a SQL database administrator with MS certification. I'm fairly handy with SQL Server. I cleaned my registry of SQL and .net and InstallShield will install NEITHER prerequisite. It won't even copy my basic application anymore. I suppose I'll delete the solution and start all over AGAIN. If InstallShield can't do the basic things like copy files, how is it useful to anyone? I don't get it.

Going from bad to worse. Now it won't install .net OR SQL Server. And it ran through the entire install on my test computer and installed NOTHING. It used to install .net and my app. How does anyone use this software?
