Question:

Can I Deploy the RISC Networks appliances in Hyper-V?

Answer:

Currently the RN150 virtual appliance is only supported on VMware ESXi and VMware Player/Workstation/Fusion. The platform supports assessing Hyper-V servers and will assess any VM on that Hyper-V server that responds to SNMP, WMI, or SSH. The platform cannot report on statistics from Hyper-V Manager as the platform does with vCenter however the Hyper-V server is seen as a Windows Server and the platform can report performance, inventory, and traffic statistics. In terms of collecting on devices on hypervisers other than VMWare, Our appliance does not have a hypervisor-level view on devices except for VMware. If a device is running on a hypervisor (like HyperV, KVM, Xen, bhyve), as long as the device is in scope of the assessment and the appropriate credentials are supplied, the appliance can talk to it on the operating system level the same as if it were running on physical hardware.
