Windows Server Optimisation Report CIS Licenses

Hello,

Does this report take into account that CIS (Windows Server & System Center) can be licensed per virtual OSE or is it based purely on licensing the physical cores? Here's my scenario...

I have a single host with 2 processors and 20 cores. There are 4 Windows Server VMs on this host with System Center installed. The report is recommending 40 cores of CIS Standard, which would be correct if I am licensing based on physical cores, however if I was to license the 4 VMs by virtual OSE, with each VM having less than 8 cores (but a minimum of 8 cores for licensing purposes) I would only need 32 cores.

Thanks

Yes, there are many optimization options available with this report as per all the drop-downs:

I would recommend carefully studying its documentation: Microsoft Windows Server Optimization Report and the sample use cases included.

You may also want to review Nicolas' walkthrough of this and other reports available, e.g., https://community.flexera.com/t5/Events-and-Webinars/Recording-and-Presentation-of-the-January-SAM-Best-Practices/ba-p/263002

Thanks,

Thanks,

Thank you. I can see it calculates as expected using the 90 day peak / VMs as the assessment metric. I was initially using highest VMs # in cluster. Thank you for replying.
