Discussion

1. Verify the approved beacon version. You can do so by navigating to the Discovery and Inventory > Settings Page. Scroll down to the Beacon Settings section and check the pull-down menu for the version. Is it currently on 11.0.0.1093? If so, change it to 12.0.0.14065.
2. Download the beacon. Navigating to Discovery and Inventory > Network > Beacons and click 'Deploy a beacon'. Review the Beacon setup section and then click 'Download a beacon'.
3. Install the beacon. Navigate to the beaconinstaller.exe and run as administrator. When going through the setup, choose 'Custom' to change the installation path. Leave the default custom features (depending on your environment). Note that the beacon will also install the inventory agent. After you install the beacon, I will go over configuring the beacon.
4. Configure the beacon. Go to the FlexNet Beacon on your Start menu. From the Parent connection page, under Configure inventory beacon connection section, click the Download configuration button. This will lead you to the configure a beacon page in the WebUI. The parent beacon will be blank when the beacon reports to the application server.
5. Download Configuration. Click 'Download configuration'.
6. Import Configuration. Go back to the Flexnet Beacon UI and from the parent connection tab, click on the import configuration button and select the configuration file you downloaded from the WebUI. You will receive a message that there are no credentials specified for connect to the parent. Click Yes to enter the service account username and password. Once you entered your credentials, click the Test connection.
7. Verify Configured Beacon. In the WebUI, go to Discovery and Inventory > Network > Beacons. You should see your beacon you configured.
8. Confirm Beacon is Enabled. Edit the beacon properties by clicking the pencil icon to edit under Actions. In the Beacon Properties, confirm the 'Enabled' radio button is selected. Under Upgrade mode, select the latest version. Then click save to save the beacon properties. Click close to close the beacon properties and you should be back at All Beacons page.
