VMs missing Hosts

I am currently support 2 customers who both have the same issue that a number of their VMs are missing host data in FNMS. 1 of the customers in question only has about 40% of their VMs showing hosts.

What is the best way to troubleshoot, increase the host data? i had found a script previously for an older (2015) version of FNMS but the customers are on 2018 R2 and 2019 R2 respectively so this is out of date.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Stephen,

As VMs basically need 2 sets of data (the actual VM inventory and infrastructure inventory), there's 2 things to consider:

  1. Are the mentioned VMs still valid, actively used machines?
  2. What is the virtualization infrastructure? What data or process is missing, leading to missing Host-VM-relationships?

Best regards,

Markward

@stephen_dulsthere is great report by @nrousseau1 to see which VMs are know by your vCenter connection and which of them are inventoried by FNMS (SCCM, Agent, ...). I can imagine this will give you a better overview about the current vcenter/host/vm situation

Best, Dennis

Thanks for the responses. I have passed this on to the 3rd party who support the back end platform so hopefully see some progress.
