FNMS 2023 R1 and Inventory Agent 2024 R1?

Hi,
We are still on on-prem 2023 R1 version of the Suite and we plan to upgrade soon but I'm wondering if it'd be OK to launch the newest release of the Inventory Agent deployment (we use third-party deployment) ahead of time. Will the new agents work with 2023 R1 Flexnet Manager Suite?

Hi,

As always, no one will be able to give you a confident "yes" on this.

The agent is likely to work. Most of the changes between versions 20 and 22 seem to be local fixes and updates and should not rely on any platform changes. There's a few things that might not work, like the new switch option for Oracle EBS.

If you plan a manual test, please consider your inventory settings so that the new agent does not automatically downgrade to 2023 R1.

Best regards,

Markward

My experience is that they work forward (newer agents with older FNMS) and backward (older agents with newer FNMS), but functionality could be limited based on the versions of both.

The main thing is the format of the ndi file, and that hasn't changed. I've previously seen old FNMP 9.2 agents on Windows 2000 devices reporting into FlexeraOne.

Testing and a pilot rollout is always recommended.
