checking pre reqs

I want to install a package only if a particular file is located at a particular location. If this file is not present I want the installer to exit. Can someone help me with this please. Ive been searching the internet but havent found a good solution.

From Developer 7.x and above, go to System Search under Cutomized Functionality.
-In the work area, right mouse click and select add.
-From the drop down box, select "Select File Path, By searching in a specific folder"
-insert the file name that you want to search for
-In the look in option, click browse for the folder you want to start your search in, you can then select the number of subfolder levels you want to search.
-If you are creating two or more searches, take note that the first file search you create is the last file that gets searched.

Im using Admin Studio 3.x. Is it possible to do the same in Admin Studio?

I don't remember if Author has that option but you can edit the tables directly. 3 key tables to modify, Appsearch, Signature and Launch Condition Tables.
