Patch Creation - Crash

I have created a project including a Patch definition (Configuration, Latest Setup, Previous Setup) all looks fine, no error Messages. The Main Setup Project builds just perfect.

But when i select "Build Patch", Adminstudio crashes. Here an excerpt from the Debug report:

Exception ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005)
at address 0x05a71095 trying to read address 0x00000000.

File : C:\Programme\InstallShield\AdminStudio\5.5\DevStudio\System\isdev.exe
Version : 9.1.0.429
Exception : c0000005
Address : 05a71095
Access Type : read
Access Address : 00000000

I also noticed a Problem in one of the msi components with com registration. Whenever i select "Com Registration" under the components advanced settings, i get the following Message:

"Installshield is unable to display the ProgIDs collection for this component due to volume constraints ..." ?????????

Any Suggestions?

I forgot the System Specs:

Windows XP Service Pack 1 (and tried 2)
Adminstudio 5.5
Pentium 4, 2.8Ghz
1024 MB Ram
ADS Domain
I also get the same crash, the moment I say Build Patch.
I am using DevStudio 9.0 SP1, on Win XP SP2.
Were you able to resolve it and if yes, then how?

Thanks,

Thats what i wrote in the Support Transcript as Solution:

If i replace the entry on the "Latest Setup Path" Option Screen with a fixed Path or any other valid reference (for example \setup.msi), it works.

The Error was within the "Latest Setup Path". If the reference is invalid, InstallShield crashes. No Error Checking on this one 🙂

As far as i know, there has been no Patch released to solve this. And i solved this Error in 08/2004.

Hope i could help you out.

Ps: Ritesh - Is this your forename? If so, where does it origin from? Sounds
not bad.
