An error occured attempting to establish the specified connection

Hi All,
when I first installed Adminstudio 7.5 I created an SQL db to connect to and it worked fine for a while. Then for no apparent reason from one specific machine I cannot connect to it. I keep getting the error "An error occured attempting to establish the specified connection" The error is specific to one box as all the other PC's we have adminstudio on can connect to it without issue.

*I have also created a local DB to test connection it still comes up with the error.
*have uninstalled and re-installed Adminstudio. Still comes up.
*just upgraded to 8 yesterday and it still comes up.

Anybody have any idea what the issue is and how to fix it ??

I can re-image my PC but i'd rather solve the problem.:mad:

Hi,

It could be that there are general issues with the data access layer on this machine. The first thing to try would be the MDAC Component Checker Utility. It may be able to identify an inconsistency in the MDAC configuration for this machine.

I did a Google search on "repair MDAC windows xp" and there were several helpful articles that walk through the process of repairing MDAC.

I repaired MDAc and she's up and running.

ran the instructions from the following link.
