I am trying to build a simple msi that contains an mmc and dll (system one) for installation but keep getting the following error:

MSI (s) (AC:9C): Product: RetOpAdmin -- Error 1934.This setup requires Administrator privileges for configuring IIS Virtual Roots.

Other than a shortcut, createfolder, and lock permissions it don't do much more. Help please ?

Looks like DisableUserInstalls machine policy is set to 1 on your local machine.

Try removing this policy on the local machine. You can find more information on this policy in MSI Help.

Not the reason but many thanks for your interest anyway 🙂

It turned out that the requestor had in fact created a msc file but renamed it to a mmc to transfer it via email. A simple filename extension rename and re-package sorted it all out. It did seem strange they wanted a media file distributed this way !
