I am attaching the screenshots of the two errors that I get an I can confirm 100% that neither is true. I have two licensed versions of IS 2012 EE, the build room is a W2K12 machine.

Hello, We have a licensed version of InstallAnywere 2012 EE installed on Windows Server 2012 machine. It generates installers when done from the IA 2012 IDE, however I am having issues when when the installers are generated using the command line build.exe. The installers do get built, however on running the installers generated by the build.exe, I get the following two messages: [LIST=1] The installers were built using a unregistered copy of the product (I can assure you that this is not the case) Something about the lax file not being of the latest format and that the product may not work properly. Anyone has any clues on how to fix this. :mad:

The best way is to use a regular expression to verify the email address entered. If the installation is running on *nix, then a shell script will do the job, however if it is windows then the best way would be to write a Java custom action to validate the email address as there is no direct way of validating email addresses via bat files. Another approach on Windows could be to run a power shell script to do the regex based validation. However I won't recommend this approach as: 1. Power shell script execution will load all kinds of .net libraries. 2. It will only work on OSes which have power shell installed. So the best bet on windows is to to write a custom action.

Anyone? It is a simple question: Do I need to buy a separate license of IA for the clean build room machine or the license bought for developing the installers will work. Does it have a standalone command line builder akin to the one provided in IS 2012 EE?

If your requirement is to check whether .net 4 is present, doesn't the existing Predefined search satisfy your need? There is a predefined search for searching .net framework 4.0 full package and the client package.

Finally figured out what was happening. I was using merge modules and all the components in the merge modules were being installed in a directory whose origin was other than INSTALLDIR. Although while selecting the merge modules in the Redistributables in msi I was selecting the ProgramData based directory, it was still not getting uninstalled (in silent mode). So now I changed the components back to INSTALLDIR and things started working fine. By the way I do not have any other custom action in my installer. I am doing everything via tables.:D

Hello All, My product's msi silent uninstaller leaves behind files which are not installed in the Program Files directory, however when un-installation is done with the UI then everything is removed perfectly. Looks like the case of some missing property, which is getting set in the UI mode, however not in the silent mode. By the way silent installer is working as expected. Any ideas?:confused:

I would recommend creating merge modules (MSMs) wherein you logically group your files. This grouping can be done based on features or other relationship within the files and then create a msi which consumes the merge modules. Also design separate merge modules for 32-bit and 64-bit binaries. Do not mix 32-bit and 64-bit binaries in a single merge module. You could design a merge module which contains platform neutral file then create two different merge modules for 32-bit and 64-bit binaries.

Hello Folks, I have created a web installer (msi) using IS 2012, wherein there is one cab per Feature. While executing the installer the installer does download the cabs depending on the features selected, however that progress is not reflected in the progress bar. How do I get the progress bar to show the download progress as well?
