I usually create an uninstallation shortcut icon but IS2019 advises not to do so and use windows for this. So, in short using control panel/uninstallation appears successful but removes only the .exe. The shortcut and folders still remain present. This is going to cause me a huge issue when I need to distribute 300 clients an upcoming upgrade (which is the same application.)

Hi all, I am using IS 2019. To keep it short and sweet, I'm suprised that Windows uninstaller (via control panel) has failed to uninstall a currently installed application before manually installing the next version. No errors exist in the uninstallation, but the shortcuts remain on desktop/program files and the files in program files location. Any ideas where how I can fix/address this asap? I need to make a new package to distribute to clients but never expected problems with such a basic uninstallation.

It appears a fix for these issues is to create the package as: Custom Installshield handling, rather than Traditonal Windows Installer handling Can anybody confirm?

For the first time, we have used Installshield 2019 to package our application in msi format. It looks very different and clients who are installing it have complained under the SYSTEM account, it fails on applying the security policy on the installation folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\______\. The install package does not acknowledge SYSTEM account, only domain accounts. Installation throws error on DOMAIN\SYSTEM. We have a folder named "Resource" within the directory above, and this creates txt files for logs. Currently this is causing an issue. Some users on the workstation are unable to use the app as the log file can’t be initialised. I am not able to add or remove any users or user groups as the Resource folder is locked (it’s greyed out). The permissions on the Resource folder are currently set to the : Domain: [%USERDOMAIN] User: [LogonUser] Any help how I can assist clients who are bumping into this problem?
