When to use this process:

If more devices have been discovered for an Assessment than need to be licensed, you can use the the columns on the Collect Data > Licensing page to filter the list.  If the available columns cannot be used to create your target list, please use the below steps.

How to Create a Temporary Application Stack for Licensing:

The below steps will allow you to use the "Stack Names" column on the Collect Data > Licensing page to filter to your target list of devices to more quickly license for Performance Collection.

  1. Download the full asset report from the Consume Intelligence > Assets page, you will need column L asset_id
    1. asset_id is the unique identifier applied to all Discovered devices in the assessment
  2. Follow the instructions to format a Stack Membership .csv file, as described on Add Intelligence > Stack Membership page.
    1. Note: the only required columns are assest_id and new_stack
    2. Tip: we find many users already have a file indicating which devices need to be licensed by IP address.  Use vlookup to match the IPs from your existing excel file indicating devices that need to be licensed with their assigned asset_id
  3. Update the Stack Membership .csv file so that all devices that should be licensed are in an application stack, such as stack name "To License"
  4. Navigate to the Collect Data > Licensing  page
  5. Select the green Start Burst button.  This will start the 30 day timer on all Burst licenses purchased
  6. Filter to the Stack Name you created
  7. Select the green License All Filtered Devices button
    1. Note, you can also deselect devices after they are licensed to stop performance collection; however, the 30 day timer will continue.
