I am looking for a way to remove Freeware from the Unlicensed Application list that is in Flexera One. If I setup a license position for freeware that will remove it from the Unlicensed Application list. What I was thinking would be the best way to do this was by use the Create a License link from the Unlicensed Application page in Flexera. That would then take you to the next screen were you see the below:
I am not sure what the best practice option is for Purchase type.
Should I also not worry about maintenance type? Just leave it no or grayed out.
What is the best practice for the License type? Should it be set for Device or again is there a better option.
As for the naming the license position would the best practice, be to call it for an example, Microsoft Freeware, Adobe Freeware, etc. and under the Application tap, of the license position, all the freeware apps would be listed.

The best practice for dealing with unlicensed installations with FNMS is to defer all the components and freeware. The unlicensed installations PIE does not consider installations of deferred applications.
From an application status perspective, you also want all your licensed applications to be marked as authorised.
If you are looking to license every freeware application even though the commercial classification is not enough, eg you have SQL express or specific Oracle Java versions , then we create more specific application licenses like "Microsoft SQL Express (Freeware)" so that there is visibility of the use of this product to the organisation.
You don't want to hide those under a generic Microsoft or Oracle Freeware license
