Summary

Users records created based on data imported from a connection to SaaS Manager may be merged with users created based on data imported from SAP.

Details

If data is imported from both SAP and SaaS Manager then the FlexNet Manager Suite import process may merge user details from both sources. This can result in user records being shown as consuming both SAP and SaaS licenses, which may result in confusion.

Example reproduction scenario

An example of a scenario to reproduce this behavior is as follows:

  1. Configure connections to import data from for Microsoft SCCM, SAP and SaaS Manager
  2. Arrange for user records to be available in each source as follows:
    1. A user in SCCM with a SAMAccountName and Domain
    2. A user in SAP user with a NULL SAMAccountName and Domain, but have a non-NULL value for Email
    3. A user in SaaS Manager with a NULL SAMAccountName and Domain, but have the same Email value as the SAP user
  3. Run the FlexNet Manager Suite import process

The import process will merger the user record from SaaS Manager with the user record from SAP, resulting in a single user being shown in FlexNet Manager Suite.

Fix details

The user writer steps in the inventory import process have been changed so that user records that do not have a SAMAccountName and/or Domain specified will not be considered for merging when trying to match on email address.

Fix status

This issue has been fixed in the following FlexNet Manager Suite releases: 2021 R1.4 / Mar 2022 (Cloud), 2022 R1 (On Premises)
