The inventory import process does not import serial number details that are gathered by the FlexNet inventory agent from Mac computers that use the M1 chip. As a result, serial numbers shown on inventory device records for such computers are blank.
No known effective workaround exists.
FlexNet inventory agent releases 2020 R2 (16.0.x) and later support gathering serial number details from Mac computers using M1 chips. Serial number and other related system enclosure data gathered by the agent from such devices appear in inventory .ndi files similarly to the following example:
<Hardware Class="MGS_SystemEnclosure" Name="sysenc" Evidence="OS API"> <Property Name="ChassisTypes" Value="10"/> <Property Name="LockPresent" Value="False"/> <Property Name="Manufacturer" Value="Apple Inc."/> <Property Name="Name" Value="sysenc"/> <Property Name="SerialNumber" Value="F02HR8N9P79N"/> </Hardware>
This serial number information present in inventory .ndi files is not imported into FlexNet Manager Suite due to this known issue.
This issue has been fixed in the following FlexNet Manager Suite releases: 2021 R1 (On Premises), 2021 R1 / Jul 2021 (Cloud)
Affected components: Inventory, Inventory import (read/write/export)
Master issue ID: IOJ-2191525
Also known as: FNML-73350
