Summary

When Importing the Cognos package this fails with "Importing Online Reporting Package Failed"

Symptoms

When attempting to import the Cognos package a failure is reported in the Admin GUI and the following error can be seen in the Reporting module flexnet.log:

Cause

The following error can occur if incorrect FlexNet Manager host information was entered when the Cognos install was being completed.

Resolution

To verify the correct FlexNet Manager host information was entered when Cognos was installed the "FLEXnet.properties" file can be reviewed in the following location "<Cognos InstallDIR>\c10\configuration".

The file contents should appear as follows:

"#FlexNet Authenticator settings

server.host=<FlexNet Manger Engineering Applications host URL in the following format "http://host:port">

platformserver.host=<FlexNet Manger Platform host URL in the following format "http://host:port">

Complete Example:

"#FlexNet Authenticator settings

server.host=http://my_host:8888

platformserver.host=http://my_host1:8888"

If FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications is the only product that is being used with Cognos the "platformserver.host" server line can be removed as this relates to the FlexNet Manager Platform product. If both FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications and FlexNet Manager Platform are using with Cognos both lines should be present.
