SQL 2016 precedence rules
Symptoms
It looks like we?re having problems running the full WMI queries to get the edition as we can?t see that anywhere in the inventory files for these devices. We can see that the software is SQL Server Integration services and we can see that the version is 2016 ? but we cannot see the edition. How can we fix this?
Resolution
There is currently an enhancement logged under FNMS-42392 that is to apply all the required precedence rules for non-licensable components. This means if SQL server 2016 is installed with any non-licensable components that are displaying as an 'Unknown Component' the precedence rules should apply and only display SQL server 2016.
