Summary

Email alerts are not received from FlexNet Manager, how can this be investigated?

Synopsis

FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications offers an alerts functionality that allows a user to receive email alerts when certain events are triggered, for example when an agent goes down.

The "Alerts" tab allows the current alerts that have been triggered to be viewed and dismissed, users can also subscribe to alerts on this page.

Discussion

If email alerts have been received in the past but are no longer being received the following areas can be investigated:

  1. Verify no FlexNet Manager related emails are received.
  2. Ensure the email address in question is subscribed to the alert and the address contains no errors.
  3. Verify the alert has been triggered on the alerts page.
  1. Check the Admin module flexnet.log for errors, the example error below was triggered when an incorrect address was subscribed to an alert:

"<Date>,<Time> ERROR [plt.alert] [Sched1_Worker-3] Could not send email

javax.mail.internet.AddressException: Illegal address in string "<Email address subscribed to the alert>""

If there are still no email alerts being received and the above steps have been completed please contact Technical Support and provide the flexnet.log referenced above.

Additional Information

Additional information on Alerts can be located in the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications User Guide.
