Hello,
We have an implementation with 100 vCenters, the problem is that in a such big implementation is hard to track all the changes that happens in VmWare landscape.
When we audit the vCenters we receive also information about ESXi hosts that are managed, in the VmWare inventory view, we see the relation between ESXi and vCenter. The problem is the following we found out that some ESXi are decommissioned and removed from the vCenter, and he end up as orphaned, no vCenter associated. The physical machine don't exist any more, but the inventory remain, aging out and consuming license.
How can we solve this problem, because I have around 100 ESXi with no vCenter asociated.
Do you have some idea how to solve this problem?

Hi Adrian,
This is actually closely related to the old Agent inventory problem. Exactly like with agent inventories, when a machine (ESX host in this case) stopps reporting, the data in the inventory DB is just getting older and older.
If you have asset data/a disposal process, you could use this data to disable old devices or remove them. If not, you may just delete the devices from the inventory DB. I usually check the InventoryReport table and then remove old machines from Computer.
Best regards,
Markward

@adrian_ritz1 - The simple solution is to set the status of the Inventory Devices of these ESX Hosts to "Ignored".
