Flexera Agent 13.2.0 for Power8 RHEL Linux (Failed dependencies: libc.so.6)

Hi @ll

our customer tried to install the FNMS Agent 13.2.0 on a Power8 RHEL Linux and isn't able to finish the installation due the following error msg: “error: Failed dependencies"

RHEL8.jpgThe Power8 RHEL Linux is not support “x86_64” architecture. It required for “ppc64le” rpm’s only.

In below case we have checked and analyze that, ‘managesoft’ rpm package is with x86_64 architecture which is not supports ppc64le Power8 Linux and while to trying to install the same we getting an error as “failed dependencies” for libc.so.6.Same lib packages are already present on server with the name of ‘glibc-2.17-292.el7.ppc64le’.

PFA screenshot for your reference.

Please check link for your reference. https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/rpminfo?rpmID=16061227

We have also checked on RHEL portal for Managesoft packages and it’s not available for Power8 Linux.

Would be good to know which Agent should be used to install on a Power8 RHEL system

Thanks and Best

Dennis

The Flexera Linux agent only supports x86 and x64 platforms currently.  Power8 is not supported.

I believe the agent is pretty much only supported on x86..

with one exception that also supports powerpc, can't remember atm but will ask the engineers what platform that was, at the top of my head it was IBM platforms but I will confirm first.

just a quick follow up, its just the AIX Agent that has a powerpc flavour, so all the other agents are x86 only I believe.

have you confirmed if your RHEL Linux version is supported in the fnms release notes?

its not supported so fair warning.. "here be dragons..."

but......

I have not tried it myself but if your willing to give it a go it may work for your scenario (getting x86 applications working on a powerpc platform)
