FlexNet Inventory Agent 2020 R2 for Windows compatibility

Hi,

if there will be introduced one 64-bit FlexNet Inventory Agent for Windows with FlexNet Manager Suite 2020 R2, does the automated upgrade functionality still work as it was in the past with all the 32-bit Versions, or are there some special considerations going to be made here?

Thanks & best regards

There are no plans for a 64-bit only FlexNet Inventory Agent for Windows.

The Docker support on Windows does make use of an additional Windows service and a 64-bit build of ndtrack to ensure we can reliably collect inventory from Windows Docker containers (Windows containers do not play nice with 32-bit binaries). These are additional binaries that are now installed with the agent MSI package but they do not replace any existing functionality. As such, the 64-bit build of ndtrack is not intended for use on a Docker host machine.

Aside from this, Windows platform support remains the same as in previous versions of the agent for Windows and will continue to function on 32-bit installations of Windows and continues to run as a 32-bit application on 64-bit versions of Windows.

More specifically, we would need to know if there is any support for MIGRATING the FNMS 32-Bit Agent to the 64-Bit version?

As the Docker container support for Windows feature in FNMS 2020 R2 becomes available for the 64-Bit Flexera agent only, customers having a large number of 32-Bit Flexera Windows agents installed already would appreciate to learn if there is any technical support for migrating this agents base to the new 64-Bit platform.
