Can we Upgrade FlexNet Agent Beacon without upgrading Beacon?
Hi,
We do have using FNMS 2020R2 version and Flexent Inveoty Agent 16.0, Need to upgrade all agents to version 17.0 now but we are not able to upgrade it on the beacon server coz beacon it self installs its won agent on it.
Do we have any other alternate to install the latest version of the agent on Beacon servers where the beacon version is not the latest?
Thanks.

Hi,
You would normally upgrade the Beacon to the latest version as well. This would automatically update the Agent that comes with the Beacon (as part of the Beaocn installer).
Best regards,

Is there any way to do without upgrading Beacon?

Sure, there are multiple options.
- You can deploy the complete upgrade package from Flexera, but configure your existing Beacons to stay on the existing version.
- Or you could just deploy the agent packages and ignore the Beacon packages.

Hi Ajay,
you may try with Beacon installer custom option and just select agent installation.
however what is the reason for not upgrading Application and Beacon to the latest version?

I don't think that's going to work. Beacon and Agent share the installer in this case. I guess, if you just install the Agent it's like uninstalling the Beacon.
You could try to manually replace all the local agent files with the newer ones. Not sure what kind of error this might trigger, so maybe don't try this in your production environment.
