Update Service sounds very promising, but their doesn't seem to be much information on how users are autthenticated. WE are interested in charging an annual maintenance fee to our customers. Is there some way to track who has paid their fee for the authentication?
The update servcie can call a script (CGI, ASP, ...) on your server. This script would have to query you customer database to see if the user is eligible for updates, and return success or error.
