EPEL mirror errors for Collectd agent (repomd.xml does not match metalink for epel)

Since yesterday, I am seeing intermittent issues where the deployments end up stranded, citing "repomd.xml does not match metalink for epel". 

Is there a recommended way to handle this?

It appears there was an update on June 11, 2020 at fedora - possibly it took mirrors several days to catch up?
